Occupy Mansions, Occupy Neighborhoods, Occupy Schoolbus Stops…

A little remembered fact: Early in the Obama presidency, ACORN pulled together busloads of angry people and drove to neighborhoods in Connecticut where wealthy people lived. They drove the buses down their streets and pointed out who lived where, sort of like a Hollywood tour of celebrities, but with a definite intent to intimidate. The fun is back.

Occupy Wall Street is on the move … uptown.

Why uptown? Because that’s where the rich folks live!

Organizers are planning a march on Tuesday that will visit the homes of JP Morgan Chase (JPM, Fortune 500) CEO Jamie Dimon, billionaire David Koch, hedge fund honcho John Paulson, Howard Milstein, and News Corp (NWSA, Fortune 500) CEO Rupert Murdoch.

The millionaires and billionaires are being targeted for what event organizers called a “willingness to hoard wealth at the expense of the 99%.”

So far, protesters have not strayed too far from downtown, where a home base of sorts has been established at Zuccotti Park.

Tuesday’s march — organized by UnitedNY, the Strong Economy for All Coalition, the Working Families Party and New York Communities for Change — will cover quite a bit of ground if successful.

The itinerary calls for protesters to hop on the subway, emerging at 59th street near Central Park, where they will start their tour just after noon.

Doug Forand, a spokesman for the groups, said that the protesters do not have a permit for the march, but were not planning on obstructing traffic and would stick to the sidewalks.

Community organizing at its best.

Nuts for Obama

Anita Moncrief remembers how ACORN, Project Vote, the Obama campaign—and the entire left-wing media—conspired to get their man elected.

Good times:

For a number of years traditional print media has been on life support, but after the revelations from Tucker Carlson’s The Daily Caller, it looks like someone finally pulled the plug.

Considering that Journolist included journalists from Washington Post, the New York Times, National Public Radio, New Republic, and Time, one has to wonder if the biggest story covered up in 2008 was the illegal coordination between ACORN and the Obama campaign.

Yes, one does. And she does:

Below is a screen shot from the newly released Obama 2nd quarter 2007 donor list. ACORN obtained this donor list from the Obama Campaign in 2007 to target maxed out presidential donors.

As a confidential source for the New York Times, I turned this document over to reporter Stephanie Strom months before the 2008 presidential elections and though the list includes information more complete than what the Obama campaign turned over to the Federal Election Commission, the NYT decided to bury the story.

Strom and I used pseudonymous e-mail addresses while communicating and in 2008, Strom wrote:

I’m calling a halt to my efforts. I just had two unpleasant calls with the Obama campaign, wherein the spokesman was screaming and yelling and cursing me, calling me a rightwing nut and a conspiracy theorist and everything else…”

“What’s happened is that the campaign has answered some of my questions on the record — but when I sought on-the-record answers to my questions about the meeting and about the list, the campaign insisted on speaking only on background. When I asked why, I got the barrage I described earlier. Clearly, I’ve hit a nerve with what you’ve told me. The campaign knows that having the allegations of meeting attributed to ‘former employees’ — and there are more than one of you talking — and having an anonymous denial of the meeting makes it harder for me to get it into the paper.”

And it hasn’t gotten any easier, apparently. Multiple sources, and they still buried it.

It’s almost comical how the story of media complicity in electoral and legislative politics has been ignored by the media.

But maybe that will change:

The release of the Obama donor list to the public will be followed by a formal complaint to the FEC, which both Obama and ACORN will have to respond to – on-the-record.

“Based on the testimony, Project Vote, ACORN and other ACORN affiliated entities illegally coordinated activities with the Obama presidential campaign, converting the expenditures by Project Vote, ACORN and ACORN affiliated entities to illegal, excessive corporate contributions to the Obama presidential campaign, in violation of federal law.”

From her mouth to God’s ears.

A-Conned

At least when George Bush stole the election ( ;-) ), he had the decency to make sure the Supreme Court was in the bag.

President Omoeba can’t even corral his own FBI:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) related to the 2007 investigation and arrest of eight St. Louis, Missouri, workers from the “community organization” Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) for violation of election laws and voter fraud.

The documents include handwritten notes from FBI investigators interviewing canvassers working with Project Vote, an ACORN affiliate. Among the highlights from the FBI handwritten notes:

[ACORN] “Told employees not to talk to the FBI. ‘FBI trying to intimidate you.’”
Fraudulent cards:
To cause confusion on election day to keep polls open longer
To allow people who can’t vote to vote.
To allow to vote multiple times.
Project Vote will pay them whether cards fake or not – whatever they had to do to get the cards was attitude.
Constantly threatened
Staff restricted on what to say to FBI
“Poverty pimpin” (sic) ACORN
ACORN HQ is wkg for the Democratic Party.
PV [Project Vote] pays ACORN $6.00 per card…Said “You treat the cards like (cash) $”
Some [names] went right from the phone book and made up the rest.
Canvassers: homeless, volatile, drug users, drunks…
Anyone who was against PV (Project Vote) or ACORN’s goals “right wing”
She thought if she used a completely fake name it would be less like ID Theft…”Yeah, it’s against the law, I know.”

In addition to the hand-written notes, the documents also include copies of the arrest warrants, criminal case cover sheets and court documents. In April 2008, all eight ACORN employees involved in the scandal pled guilty to voter registration fraud.

And you know Aomba’s long relationship with ACORN and Project Vote!:

As WND reported, in 1992, while he was working as a community organizer in Chicago, Obama headed the Chicago operations of Project Vote!, an ACORN effort to register voters nationally.

“I come out of a grass-roots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That’s the reason I moved to Chicago, was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

Of course you do, Oamba. You taught them everything they know—or they you.

“These documents show the need for a national criminal investigation by the Obama Justice Department into ACORN. Is Attorney General Holder doing nothing because of Obama’s close connections to ACORN and Project Vote? The information in these new documents has national implications that cry out for further investigation,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

They’ll get right on that, I’m sure. Just cause the FBI is on the case, don’t expect Justice to give a crap.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Two days ago, in likening ACORN to an invasive weed, I brushed against the idea of herbicide to complete the metaphor. I rejected it as coarse, hateful, and mean.

Others have no such qualms:

ACORN chief organizer Bertha Lewis praised socialism and said the Tea Party was a “bowel movement” filled with racists in a speech to a left-wing youth group, a new video shows.

The edited two-minute video surfaced on the Verum Serum blog Wednesday as a federal appeals court reversed a lower court ruling and temporarily upheld a congressional ban on funding the faltering community activist group.

The comments by Lewis came during a March 25 speech to the winter conference of the Young Democratic Socialists, which is the youth arm of the radical Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). DSA is closely tied to the Congressional Progressive Caucus, an 80-plus member group of left-wing Democratic lawmakers.

President Obama worked for ACORN’s Project Vote affiliate, trained ACORN organizers and represented ACORN as a lawyer.

Although ACORN leaders typically refuse to be labeled as socialists because they realize the term carries with it a negative connotation in American culture, Lewis openly embraced socialism.

“First of all let me just say any group that says, ‘I’m young, I’m democratic, and I’m a socialist,’ is alright with me,” Lewis said.

Lewis then seemed to predict that America would soon enter a period of possibly violent upheaval.

“Right now we are living in a time which is going to dwarf the McCarthy era,” she said. “It is going to dwarf the internments during World War II. We are right now in a time that is going to dwarf the era of Jim Crow and segregation.”

Let’s look at those charges.

An African American sits in the Oval Office, two have served as Secretary of State, one as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one sits on the Supreme Court, another is chairman of a national political party (all thanks to Republicans). So much for Jim Crow and segregation.

And the African American president not only worked for a self-proclaimed socialist organization like ACORN, he spoke warmly of it during the campaign. His spread-the-wealth rhetoric and his take-the-wealth actions are drawn straight from Das Kapital. His political mentors were avowed revolutionaries and Marxists. And did I mention he’s president?

So much for McCarthyism. McCarthy ruined people on suspicion and innuendo. He wouldn’t have known what to do with someone who wrapped himself in the red flag, singing the Internationale out of one side of his mouth while denigrating the Constitution out of the other. (I might suggest impeachment.)

So, we’re “bowel movements”, huh? Oh, for the good old days when they called us snakes:

First there was Sarah Palin. Now we can add another Republican reptile from the past trying to help the GOP win House races this year – former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.

Ever since all those fire-breathing tea party nut jobs scored their upset win in the Massachusetts Senate election, they’ve been looking for a new race to target. Santorum and his fellow nut jobs on the right-wing lunatic fringe…

And we’re the ones spreading the hate.

A CO(R)N

ACORN might be better named dandelion, or crabgrass, or redroot pigweed—anything you have to dig up down to the last scrap of root to be sure it doesn’t come back:

The organized crime syndicate known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which has been making much ado about its feigned withdrawal from the national political stage, continues doing business as usual.

Proof comes in the form of an email, which went out to ACORN supporters on April 16 and which came two weeks after ACORN’s faked dissolution on April Fool’s Day as a national organization.

Writes ACORN chief organizer Bertha Lewis:

ACORN is not dead!

ACORN is alive because you are alive and still fighting for justice. Over the past 40 years, ACORN members have been through a lot in the fight to empower working families and families of color — and it has been the commitment of people like you, regular folks doing extraordinary things, that has made it possible.

In the email the perennially truth-averse Lewis, whose lies throughout the undercover video saga are well documented, continues to play the victim card arguing that ACORN, dozens of whose employees have been convicted of election-related crimes, was set up by shadowy corporate forces.

Nathan Henderson-James, director of ACORN’s online campaigns, already admitted ACORN isn’t really going away.

ACORN will probably run out of money and fold by year’s end but a dozen ACORN state chapters reincorporated to seem like new, independent organizations will spring up to carry on ACORN’s business, his leaked email suggested. At least a dozen of the group’s state chapters have already broken away under new names.

Which is why this news is only so good:

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has issued a stay on the December 2009 injunction by Clinton-appointed Judge Nina Gershon that declared the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) funding ban was unconstitutional.

The result of the stay is that the Congressional funding ban will go back into effect, and ACORN will not receive taxpayer dollars while the court reviews the case.

The never go away for good. If they know organization, they know reorganization. And they’re too important to the permanent Democratic majority. I would carry my weed metaphor to its logical conclusion (herbicide), but that’s a hateful thought. Besides, I’m an organic kind of guy: maybe we should just spray ACORN with a solution of vinegar, salt, and dishwashing liquid.

Is That an ACORN in Your Pants?

Or just the usual pork?

Senator Roland Burris is claiming credit for a provision in Harry Reid’s “manager’s amendment,” unveiled Saturday morning, that could funnel money to ACORN through the health care bill.

Burris told THE WEEKLY STANDARD: “It was the disparity provision that was put in, which we had something to do with, in terms of making sure that diabetes and the other diseases that are affecting minorities are really studied by HHS in all of these pilot programs.”

According to a Senate legislative aide, the scandal-plagued Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now could qualify for grants under this provision. ACORN would also qualify for funding on page 150 of the underlying Reid bill, which says that “community and consumer-focused nonprofit groups” may receive grants to “conduct public education activities to raise awareness of the availability of qualified health plans.”

Burris, Reid, ACORN, Obama—there are so many clowns in this story, maybe I should have titled the post “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”

At his blog, Legal Insurrection, William Jacobson notes the cluster[bleep] of epic proportion (he uses the expression “perfect storm”, doubtless out of modesty) that got us here:

How amazing is the number of circumstances which caused this perfect storm, without any one of which we wouldn’t be on Obama’s precipice: Massachusetts changes its rules for a second time to allow appointment of a Democrat in Kennedy’s place rather than having to wait for the special election; Al Franken outmaneuvers and out-litigates Norm Coleman to steal the Minnesota race; Rahm Emanuel recruits “blue dog” Democratic wolves in sheep’s clothing and people fall for it; the media covers up the Obama agenda during the campaign, portraying Obama falsely as a moderate; [added] George Allen says “Macaca,” and so on.

Update: A couple of commenters correctly have pointed out that I should have included Ted Steven’s defeat as another element in the perfect storm. Remember that Steven’s conviction later was dismissed due to prosecutorial misconduct, but the Democrat who won the election remains in office, as I posted previously….

None of these events is an “accident”: all required anti-democratic maneuvering, especially in Alaska, Massachusetts, and Minnesota. Obama and Emanuel didn’t just win an election; he committed a putsch.

Philadelphia: City of Underage Sisterly Love.

Small business woman seeks a loan to expand business and create jobs.

Philadelphia: Benjamin Franklin, Mike Schmidt, David Brenner, and the New Black Panther poll patrol. Now, all have to make room for ACORN—which is so busted, again.

The sting team was never kicked out, never challenged on setting up a whore house, never confronted about smuggling underage Central American girls as prostitutes, as the media so cravenly reported based on ACORN false witness.

In fact, they were given over half an hour of valuable, taxpayer-funded time.

In Philly, the ACORN falls very far away indeed from the tree of liberty.

A Tree Grows in Crooklyn

For an oak tree to sprout, a squirrel needs to eat and s**t an ACORN. Make of that what you will:

ACORN may be down, but don’t count it out.

The elaborate propaganda apparatus erected to support the Obama agenda is already at work spinning the downfall of the community organization into a vicious right-wing plot to destroy the presidency of Barack Obama, who sprouted from ACORN.

The group was cut off from some of its taxpayer dollars after conservative bloggers duped ACORN staffers into offering advice on setting up a child prostitution ring. ACORN had no defense — it was caught on tape and posted on the Web.

But ACORN is too important to Democrats and Obama in particular to allow it to wither away. Much of the taxpayer money that funds ACORN’s activism ends up benefiting Democratic interests.

Stories are showing up about ACORN’s diligent efforts to purge itself of bad apples. News reports document how ACORN’s ability to help foreclosure victims has been hamstrung by the misdeeds of a few gullible staffers.

Obama’s conversion of his election team to a permanent network of campaign offices to advocate for his policies — the latest opened in Detroit on Saturday — is unprecedented.

The administration gets away with such ruthless manipulation of public opinion because the media are derelict in watch-dogging this White House and its backers.

He had me at “elaborate propaganda apparatus”, but with mention of the dereliction of the media, I know I’m in the presence of greatness.

That is what underlies all that is wrong with this administration. They couldn’t get away with any of their socialist sleaze if the media weren’t a wholly owned subsidiary of David Axelrod. To say that they are in the bag for Obama is an insult to bags everywhere.

More Bad News For ACORN

Oops

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The political advocacy group ACORN and a former supervisor were ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges that they illegally paid canvassers to register Nevada voters during last year’s presidential campaign.

Evidence heard during more than six hours of testimony left “a lot of issues that have to be answered” before trial, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace William Jansen said.

In a related story, they are apparently pulling out of Florida.

Senate Working To Ban ACORN Funding

This seems serious to me

With no fanfare and no roll call vote, not even a speech — the Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment by Sen. Mike Johanns, R-NE, that bars any funds from the Defense spending bill from going to ACORN.

Johanns promised to introduce a similar amendment on every spending bill Congress considers this year, until the chamber takes up his broader bill that would impose permanent ban on ACORN receiving any federal funds.

It took the Senate a little over one minute to consider the measure.

What took them so long?

Lame, Lame, Lame

NY Times on why they didn’t cover the ACORN tapes

Phew, this is weak. Very weak. I’ll just summarize. They were busy. They didn’t notice. Other news stories were happening. Conservatives are trying to impugn their dignity, their noble record. They got around to it eventually.

You can read it yourself for the details.

Jew Hatred At NBC

Producer of Dateline sends email

Apparently NBC “Dateline” producer Jane Stone or someone else who has access to her Blackberry has a problem with groups that oppose ACORN and with an ethnocultural minority.

When Stone received an email urging Congress to defund ACORN from Alex Rosenwald, director of media outreach for Americans for Limited Government, the following sentence came back to Rosenwald from Stone’s account: “Bite me, Jew Boy!”

Go to the link to see the shot of her blackberry.

Why is it ok to do this to Jewish people? Would she still have her job if she’d used similar bigotry towards any other minority group?

This is the comment from the group that received the email:

Americans for Limited Government does not contend that NBC or its parent company GE, are anti-Semitic. What is highly disturbing, however, is that there clearly is a culture at NBC that has allowed this person who clearly has issues to go unchecked.

Ms Stone claims she did not send the offensive email. If that is not the case, we at ALG call upon her to help ascertain who did send it using her Blackberry and her email address. If Ms Stone did, in fact, send it, we at ALG call upon Ms Stone to apologize to Mr. Rosenwald, and we call upon the NBC hierarchy above Ms Stone to join her in issuing that apology.

If the shoe fits, wear it. If someone in a position of power, such as the producer of Dateline, sent this, then yes, NBC is anti-Semitic. If she let’s anti-Semites fool around with her blackberry, she is known by the company she keeps. It is kind of hard to imagine that someone lifted it out of her pocketbook on the subway, sent the nasty email, then put it back. Right?
