Stop, I’m Blushing!
Boy, does Janet Napolitano have us down to a T:
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano has turned her attention away from acts of Islamic jihad on American soil (which she now refers to as “man-caused disasters”). Instead, her department is sounding the alarm over an un-quantified “resurgence” in “rightwing extremism activity.” On April 7, DHS sent a nine-page warning memo to law enforcement offices across the country titled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”
The report includes a sweeping definition of the threat:
“Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”
It’s like she’s in the room with me—in my head with me (and all the voices I hear). Spooky.
And I thought I was just another recovering liberal, a disillusioned progressive who had had it with the smug certainties of the left, and resolved (after 9/11 gave me no choice) to deal with the world as it really is.
Turns out (in the local accent), I’m a hate-uh. And I thought these fatigues and Doc Martens just made me look younger.
Watch out, I could be standing right next to you on the subway, thinking impure thoughts, rubbing my copy of Mein Kampf.
Here’s a tip on how to recognize us. If you ever hear anyone utter these words, give him wide berth:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
FASCIST!!!

you can chuckle if you like, but similar talk when clinton took over helped inspire Tim McVeigh. visit the oklahoma city memorial sometime to see another, purely american tragedy. rev up enough wingnuts with enough fervor and someone is going to take action.
just as the antiwar protests fired up the panthers, the right wing fired up mcveigh. we have a homeland security department to watch for that.

And were you writing to various blogs to complain when the moonbats wanted California and New England to split from the union? Were you worried on election day when ACORN reps were threatening people at polling places in Philadelphia? How consistent are you in your anxieties?

Ron Ray, we have a Department of Homeland Security because of the September 11 attacks - remember those? There was no such animal until after that day.

Also, Ron-Ray, he wasn’t just protesting against Clinton (who after all had been in office for over two years already). McVeigh’s terrorist attack coincided with the 2nd anniversary of the Waco cookout. In his own sick mind, he thought there was some kind of justice.
If today’s psychopathic returning veterans are unexploded ordinance (thousands upon thousands of them, our government believes), what do you expect will light the fuse?
In other words, even a perverted bastard like Tim McVeigh needed a casus belli. Why assume that soldiers returning home today are any more unhinged than a proven sociopath like T McV—when less than one hundredth of one percent even entertain fascistic notions?

Hey Ron, who keeps watch over the DHS? Bill Ayers?
