Only Little People Pay Taxes
And their getting littler all the time:
President Barack Obama’s tax proposal which promises to increase taxes for those families with incomes of $250,000 or more — has some Americans brainstorming ways to decrease their pay, even if it’s just by a dollar.
A 63-year-old attorney based in Lafayette, La., who asked not to be named, told ABCNews.com that she plans to cut back on her business to get her annual income under the quarter million mark should the Obama tax plan be passed by Congress and become law.
…
“We have to find a way out where we can make just what we need to just under the line so we can benefit from Obama’s tax plan,” she added. “Why kill yourself working if you’re going to give it all away to people who aren’t working as hard?”
Why? Didn’t Joe the Plumber already ask that question? And what was the reply?
“I think if you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everyone.”
Still think so?
How about this guy; does he sound like he wants to spread the wealth?
Add former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk to the list of Obama Cabinet picks with tax problems.
The Senate Finance Committee says he underpaid by $9,975 in the last three years.
Senate aides uncovered the shortfall during weeks of vetting, and Kirk – the administration’s designated point person on trade — has promised to pay the Internal Revenue Service in full. The problems: Kirk deducted too much for season tickets to the Dallas Mavericks and too much for tax preparation fees, and failed to report as income speaking fees that he donated to his alma mater, Austin College.
Season tickets to the Mavs were a deduction?
My particular tax protest on April 15th will be to let the date pass without filing. When the jackbooted thugs from the IRS knock at my door, I’ll just send them away with a wave of my hand and tell them I’m on the shortlist for Obama’s Deputy Assistant Secretary of Chemical Dependency, or some such. (We don’t have one? Just wait.)
But the “rich” lady in the first story needs to get with the program. Forget “live simply, that others may simply live”, which makes no sense anyway. The new bumper sticker for our time is:
The stock market may say it’s 1997, but it sounds a lot more like 1984 to me.

BTL, I have patiently explained to various nitwits that wealthy people will simply work less. As a result of these conversations, have discovered something interesting. Populists and Obamabots (a redundancy) believe that the very rich are not like you and me. They seem to think that they are a different species, one that just loves to work and work and work and then give it all away. Perhaps there are a few people like that, but not enough to grow our country. People will simply earn less and find new hobbies.

“I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”

“I swear by my Love Life and my Love of it, that I will never Love for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to Love for mine.”
