Another Scoop for NPR

Well, looky what NPR done learned about Al Qaeda:

The officials say the terrorist network’s leadership cadre has been “decimated,” with up to a dozen senior and midlevel operatives killed as a result of the strikes and the remaining leaders reeling from the repeated attacks.

“The enemy is really, really struggling,” says one senior U.S. counterterrorism official. “These attacks have produced the broadest, deepest and most rapid reduction in al-Qaida senior leadership that we’ve seen in several years.”…

“In the past, you could take out the No. 3 al-Qaida leader, and No. 4 just moved up to take his place,” says one official. “Well, if you take out No. 3, No. 4 and then 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, it suddenly becomes a lot more difficult to revive the leadership cadre.”

Wow, in two weeks! That’s some fine shootin’ there, President Obama.

Or do you think someone else deserves the credit?

Get used to it. Every non-homeless person, every bank that doesn’t go under, every miniscule drop in pump prices, and every greased jihadist will be touted as the direct results of Mr. Hopenchange.

I don’t think it’s a matter of giving credit where credit isn’t due. If nothing else, saying that Obama accomplished this would mean that something needed to be accomplished to begin with, and everyone knows the war was trumped up for Bush’s oil buddies.

I think it’s a matter of saying that Al Qaeda is so over that we don’t need to spend any time, money, or effort on destroying them any more. The war, therefore, is over and all troops can come home. Nothing to see here, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
