Mush From the Wimp

I’m not the only one who’s noted that TeamObama has all of a sudden lost its voice in crowing about their accomplishments. Not only has the appointment Lanny Breuer to head the criminal division of Justice gone unmentioned—and he’s represented such pillars of the community as Roger Clemens and Bill Clinton—but they’re not putting much of anything up at whitehouse.gov:

Ken Shepherd at Newsbusters take a close look at the White House website’s press briefings section.

Surprise, surprise: There’s not much there there.

So much for transparency.

Newsbusters elaborates:

As a search of whitehouse.gov caches through the site archive.org shows, the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations often featured transcripts of their daily press briefings easily accessible on the Web site. In the case of the Bush administration, this writer can attest that transcripts of daily briefings often appeared within a few hours after having concluded.

The redesigned Web home for the Obama administration went live at noon on Tuesday, and contains a “Briefing Room” page that contains seven sections, including a blog, a weekly video address archive, and an archive for press pool reports, but no section for the daily press briefings.

But Bushitler was super-secretive. BTW, I, too, can attest to the completeness of the government transcripts. On several occasions I have been able to find transcripts of briefings by Bush, Cheney, Rice—anyone—without having to rely on media précis or half-quotes out of context.

I wouldn’t worry about any of this, however: President Obama is a friend of the press:

President Barack Obama made a surprise visit to the White House press corps Thursday night, but got agitated when he was faced with a substantive question.

Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a deputy defense secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face.

“Ahh, see,” he said, “I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can’t end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I’m going to get grilled every time I come down here.”

Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, William J. Lynn III, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter’s shoulder and staring him in the eye.

“Alright, come on” he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. “We will be having a press conference at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys - that’s all I was trying to do.”

Translation: “If you’re not going to worship me, you’re wasting your time and mine. You dare question me? I could squash you like a bug.”

But he did offer one peek behind the scenes:

He revealed that he had already gotten in two work outs since being sworn in Tuesday.

“Turns out I have a little gym up there,” he said with a smile.

Barack Obama in gym shorts and a tank top. [Swoon!]

Last point: have you noticed what a master of metrosexual mealy-mouthedness Obama is? “We’re going to act responsibly, with respect and mutual understanding, and at the appropriate time we will enact the proper and measured response in line with a reasoned and rational analysis of our national strategies and goal vis-a-vis this particular issue, strategy, or initiative in order to…”

Shaddap!!!

God, he is such a weenie!

How long before someone accidentally places the wrong headline on a story about him?

That wrong headline thing is the best thing I’ve seen all day. And I agree with you, BTL, about metrosexuals. I cannot figure out what these young woman are thinking. Obama is a complete turn-off. I don’t care how many muscles he has, there’s no there there. Somebody said that trying to pin him down is like trying to nail jello to the wall.

My patience with the Obama administration is now exhausted.

According to a post at Gateway Pundit, http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/01/rejoice-bushs-war-is-over.html
President The One has wiped out every single legal order and opinion issued by an executive branch lawyer since 9-11-01. It truly is the very early morning of September 11 again in America. Problem is, an awful lot of us know what will happen this time and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it.

ON the slightly more amusing side, I can point you to The TARP Song.
