Israelis Attacked In Danish Mall

Shot in a crowded mall in Denmark

Do you think it was a coinky-dink as a certain 5 year old I know likes to say?

A gunman wounded two Israelis working at a packed central Denmark shopping mall Wednesday, Danish police said.

The two wounded men are Israelis in their 20s, police spokesman Lars Thede said. He said it was too early to speculate on whether they were targeted because of their nationality.

One of the wounded was shot in the arm and the other in the leg, police said. Their condition is unclear.

The shooting took place at the Rosengaard mall in Odense, 170 kilometers (105 miles) west of Copenhagen. It occurred around 3:30 p.m. (14:30 GMT), when the mall was filled with people doing last-minute shopping before the New Year’s break.

Thede said a video surveillance camera showed a man in his mid-20s pulling out a gun before opening fire.

“We cannot say whether he is Palestinian, Iraqi or where he is from,” he said. “It is too early to say

Just a random attack on Israelis. Kind of like the random attack on the Chabad House in Mumbai. Or the fluke of an attack on the Jewish Center in Seattle a couple years ago. Or the non-terrorist attack on the people at the El Al counter at LAX in 2002, just a guy with a gun murdering Jews. Could happen to anyone.

I’m going to claim local expertise on the issue of the attack on the office of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. According to one of the nice Jewish ladies who was shot by Naveed Haq, who himself said, “I am a muslim American, angry at Israel,” that entire incident was caused by a lack of gun control and if Washington didn’t have such lax laws (like we’re Florida or something), Haq wouldn’t have had the gun and wouldn’t have shot the nice Jewish ladies at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the nice Jewish ladies being Jewish or with the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle being, well, Jewish.

    Carol,

I defer to your greater understanding and withdraw the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle attack from my general rant about people attacking Jews.

    Happy New Year.

And the news today is Naveed Haq goes on trial again in October. That does give me plenty of time to compose a letter to the prosecutor explaining that jihad does not require any sort of organization or formal declaration or backing or anything besides a cretin with a gun and that he seriously needs to educate the jury about jihad. I wonder if he could get testimony about that admitted.

The first jury deadlocked on 14 out of 15 charges. Sigh.
