Racists for Obama

That would be you. And you. And you—heck, all of y’all:

Obama suppporter Charles Ogletree, Harvard professor, says that even if you vote for Obama, you’re still a raaaaaaaaaaaacist!

Let him explain:

Even if you vote for Obama, you’re still probably a racist, according to Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree, in his remarks at a recent panel discussion at my alma mater. Ogletree, Obama’s top advisor on race issues, explains that since Obama is “biracial,” his election won’t prove that racism has receded. White America won’t vote for blacks, Ogletree argues, and Obama’s election is possible only because he’s partly white. The ABA Journal predicts that Ogletree, who has long advocated race-based reparations, will be the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Civil Rights Division during the Obama administration.

I wouldn’t vote for Obama if he were white, black, red (which he decidedly is), pink (ditto), yellow (ditto). So I’m truly color blind. I think the rest of you have a problem, however: I think you’re voting for Obama precisely because he is black (at least that’s what so, so many of you have told me); and Ogletree says you’re really voting for him because he’s half white (it must be his lower half, because I’ve never seen it).

You people are really [bleeped] up, you know that? You love him and hate him for the very same empty, shallow reason. Do you think you could just stay home next Tuesday?

Sadlyno.com demonstrated that you, Freep, Malkin, and everyone else making this claim has not listened to the audio. If you had, you would see your entire premise disappear. Ogletree does not say the things you claim.

If this doesn’t convince you that it’s a waste of time and money to go to an Ivy League school, I guess nothing will.

Well, you got me. I had not listened to the audio when I posted this.

    But now I have.

And, sadly yes, Ogletree does seem to say exactly what he was reported to have said: Barack is bi-racial, ergo his success in American politics is the exception and proves nothing. Racism continues as before.

You can listen here. Go to 81:32.

But my other point is that plenty of blacks and whites are voting for Obama precisely because he is black. I don’t say so, they do. Neither you nor Ogletree address that.

Malkin and her Freeper source say that Ogletree says that if you vote for Obama “you’re probably still a racist.” Ogletree doesn’t say that. He says that he cannot tell his granddaughters that racism has been eliminated from society. He says that, of all the members of Congress (none of whom are Republicans), all were elected by majorities of minorities in their districts. And that Obama’s example is only partially valid because he’s bi-racial.

Transforming that into “Ogletree says you’re a racist” is either mistaken or mendacious. I have my opinion as to what it is when it comes from Malkin.

Or is Malin claiming that racism is actually a thing of the past, and that Ogletree is hatefully claiming otherwise? Even she isn’t that insane. I assume.

As for people voting for Obama because he is black, I have no doubt that’s going on, just as I have no doubt that others are voting against him for that reason. None of this is relevant to Malkin’s typically dishonest (and nasty) statement.

Obama’s white supporters aren’t racists? I’ll buy that for a vast majority of them, but not all.

The people quoted right underneath the photo are braindead, and they prove John Murtha right. They will vote Obama, then resume their lives as useless racists who have no problem dropping the n-bomb like that’s a reasonable thing to do. No, Michelle, racism will not vanish when Obama takes the oath of office. That is the first part of Ogletree’s point, and he is provably correct. (Is Ogletree claiming racists are voting for Obama’s white half? I can’t really tell. If he is, that’s eminently stupid.)

I’m white, and I early voted for Obama. I didn’t do so because he’s black, but if I had, exactly what kind of racist does that make me? (And as far as blacks who vote for him and say they’re doing so because of race…who would they vote for if Obama were white, or if Hillary had won? Don’t kid yourself that it would be much closer. Blacks go Democratic 90-10.)

I don’t need to go through this again. I’m happy for anyone not gainfully employed (a textbook definition of an Obama supporter) to spend the time listening to this for himself. Then draw your own conclusion.

I’ve given up on trying to decipher what Ogletree meant. I just know what he said, and what he said was Barack was biracial and doesn’t count. Who’s the racist?

To be honest, that’s the perfect reaction. If you had a remotely good comeback, you’d use it. You call yourself “bloodthirsty,” for Christ’s sake. But when it’s pointed out that you’re a drone and one of your favorite people, Michelle Malkin, is a proven liar, you move the goalposts: “Oh, I don’t wanna rehash.” I addressed your point, I proved it clangingly false, and SURPRISE!, you won’t address mine. You admit you had to decipher Ogletree’s words. Not long after, you know exactly what he meant. You have lost the argument, you know it, and you’ll never be right with God until you admit it. I’m surprised you haven’t deleted some of these comments. That’s what rightbloggers do when they get taken to the woodshed.

    Geez, Arnold, take a second.

You can claim to speak not only for not only Ogletree, for Malkin, for 300 million knuckle-dragging Americans (you even claim to speak for me, but falsely)—and now for God?

If it is not clear to you by now that I try to present the facts and let people come to their own conclusions, then I won’t try further. I provided the link to the audiofile of Ogletree’s original remarks, including a helpful marker to find them without losing an hour and a half of your life listening to the rest of the cuckoo colloquy—that alone should have made it clear I had nothing to hide. I don’t delete comments unless they’re obscene, promotional, or otherwise serve no purpose. Comments disagreeing with me may serve no purpose, but I let ‘em in anyway. Excuse me if I can’t address them all.

I’ve already told you what I think Ogletree said; somehow you come to a different conclusion. And somehow I still think I’m right; Michelle Malkin, too. Where I think you go wrong is when you hammer your own personal conclusion into universal law. We’re going to be disagreeing a lot in this country over the next few years, regardless of who wins the election. Let’s remember that we’re all countrymen and women of the greatest nation on earth, now or ever. As winners of life’s lottery it seems petty to squabble among ourselves.
