Angry White People
What CNN sees as “rage”, you and I see as something else: concern, bemusement, outrage, and, sure, a helping of just plain rage:
“When you have an Obama, [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and the rest of the hooligans up there going to run this country, we have got to have our head examined. It’s time that you two are representing us, and we are mad. So, go get them,” one man told McCain at a town hall meeting in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Another man was more pointed.
“And we’re all wondering why that Obama is where he’s at, how he got here. I mean, everybody in this room is stunned that we’re in this position,” another man said at Thursday’s rally.
“I’m mad. I’m really mad. And what’s going to surprise you, it’s not the economy. It’s the socialists taking over our country,” one said.
That’s not rage. That’s the rational conclusion of a man who’s been reading the newspapers. Only the socialism didn’t start with the economic emergency measures of the past two weeks—but long, long before that with government intervention in the housing and financial markets.
Of course, there’s some rage, too:
At a rally in Minnesota on Friday, a woman told McCain: “I don’t trust Obama. I have read about him and he’s an Arab.”
McCain shook his head and said, “No ma’am, no ma’am. He’s a decent family man…[a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. That’s what this campaign is all about.”
One man at the rally said he was “scared of an Obama presidency.” McCain later told the man he should not fear Obama.
He didn’t say he feared Obama, John! He said he feared an Obama presidency! If you don’t as well, then what the hell are you doing up there?
This whatever you call it—rage, frustration, fear, astonishment—is very real and completely justified. The country stands poised to elect a man to the left of Eugene V. Debs. Which is its democratic right, but you can’t let it happen without a fight. Joseph Stalin was a decent family man, too (I’m making that up, but let’s say he was), but it’s completely irrelevant to the monstrous crimes he committed.
Obviously, I’m not comparing Obama to Stalin. Stalin at least defended his country.
PS: CNN wouldn’t mention this, but one of the people begging (his word) McCain to take it to Obama was a black man.

Now, that’s what I call rage, Dan! As well as illiteracy, misinformation, and just plain nonsense. All the hallmarks of the typical Obama supporter. Thanks for proving the point.

I think that anyone who supports palin for future endeavors has to be mentally impaired, regardless of whether you are republican or democrat anyone who wants her to run our country needs to go to a mental hospital
