Obama and Friends
As Dylan wrote, “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.”
But Obama has his own Weatherman—not just a “neighbor”, not just a “professor of English”—but his own personal confessed terrorist.
As Bill Ayers said of himself, so we say of Barack Obama: “Guilty as hell, and free as a bird.”
Despite having authored two autobiographies, Barack Obama has never written about his most important executive experience. From 1995 to 1999, he led an education foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), and remained on the board until 2001. The group poured more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical education activists.
The CAC was the brainchild of Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s. Among other feats, Mr. Ayers and his cohorts bombed the Pentagon, and he has never expressed regret for his actions. Barack Obama’s first run for the Illinois State Senate was launched at a 1995 gathering at Mr. Ayers’s home.
The Obama campaign has struggled to downplay that association. Last April, Sen. Obama dismissed Mr. Ayers as just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” and “not somebody who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis.” Yet documents in the CAC archives make clear that Mr. Ayers and Mr. Obama were partners in the CAC.
Those archives are housed in the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago and I’ve recently spent days looking through them.
Jim Lehrer has all the information he needs to ambush Obama in the debate Friday night (with plenty more here, if need be). Not that he will risk his parking space at the National Press Club to do so, and not that he’ll get the question out before being shouted down by a partisan audience (led by Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews), but Obama’s sketchy, misleading answers about this troubling association ought not be left to stand by an independent press.
Independent press? What the [bleep] am I talking about?
PS: As Michelle Malkin says: “Awaiting the in-your-face thug response from Obama in 3, 2, 1…”

THE AYERS/OBAMA TIMELINE
1987 William Ayers meets Barack Obama
1988 Ayers solicits Khalid Al-Mansour to raise money for Obama’s Harvard law School education
1989 Tom Ayers and William Ayers get Obama a summer job at Sidley & Austin (where he meets Michelle Obama); Ayers’ wife Bernadine Dohrn also worked at Sidley at about the same time as Barack and Michelle.
1993 Ayers places Obama on Woods Foundation
1995 Ayers makes Obama Chairman of Annenberg Challenge
1995 Ayers hosts a coffee klatch for Obama’s political debut (Obama falsely claims this is when he met Ayers)
2007-2008 The structure of Obama’s presidential campaign increasingly comes to resemble an Ayers-designed national “community organizer matrix” straight out of Maoist theory. This is not merely a presidential “campaign.” Obama’s organization is the first installment of an ongoing movement being paid for with tax-exempt contributions to his campaign, approaching half a billion dollars.
2008 Obama In response to ABC News, Obama tells a national TV audience he was “six years old” when Ayers bombed federal buildings, and they are only casual neighborhood acquaintances. A lie.
