A Tale Of Two 17 Year Olds

Media bias

Make no mistake — the press outed Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Reporters descended on Alaska following vile and false accusations on Internet blogs that Gov. Palin faked her own pregnancy and that her daughter was actually baby Trig’s mother. These lies weren’t only spread by left-wing fanatics but by journalists like Andrew Sullivan, whose blog appears on Atlantic.com, the online version of what was once one of the most respected magazines in the country. As the rumors got uglier, the McCain campaign decided they had no choice but to reveal to the world intimate details about Gov. Palin’s daughter. And the media stood by their decision to muckrake by arguing for the public’s right to know.

If you don’t think this reflects media bias, contrast this insatiable prying into Bristol Palin’s life with the press’s lack of curiosity about the behavior of another 17-year-old — one whose story would seem to have more relevance to this year’s presidential election.

In his memoir “Dreams from My Father,” Barack Obama describes his troubled teenaged years. “Pot had helped, and booze, maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack though,” he recalls, though he admits he came close to trying heroin at the urging of a friend who shot up in front of him. He was deterred by the image “of an air bubble, shiny and round like a pearl, rolling quietly through my vein and stopping my heart,” he says. “Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man.”

Aside from the absurdly over-written nature of Barry’s romantic description of his teenage self, can you imagine why this hasn’t gotten a little bit more attention? I mean, if we can wonder out loud if Sarah Palin had enough pre-natal care, and what kind of guy her daughter slept with, why can’t we discuss Barry’s book?

Obama’s drug use went on for at least a few years, though he is noticeably vague in describing exactly when it began, how extensive it was, or when it ended. At least one of his friends was arrested for drug possession; another had a mental breakdown after one too many acid trips. But Obama has been reticent to reveal the extent of his illegal activities — and the media haven’t cared enough to pursue the question.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander - or ought to be. But we know better. The NY Times will print a rumor that McCain had an affair on the front page, a rumor that turned out to be false, but they will cover for John Edwards for eleven months. And then they get real prissy when you call them on it.

Well, I am thinking of using all sorts of offensive language, so I better quit while I’m ahead.

OK, if you won’t, I will. All this does is support my thesis that the left doesn’t give a damn about this country; all they want is power. They want the power to make us stop driving our cars. They want the power to determine how and how well to heat or cool our houses. They want the power to control the hours we work. They want the power to control our access to health care. They want the power to control just about every single thing we do and they don’t care who they have to squash like bugs to get it.

I am deeply, deeply tired of democrats prancing about, thinking they are truly better people because they are so much more tolerant, so much more sympathetic, just so much more compassionate than any right-winger because, as this week has shown with the high-tech rape of a teen-aged girl, it’s a G—damned stinking lie. As far as I’m concerned they have pretty much demoted themselves to scum of the earth.

You said it better than I would have anyway, Carol, and I agree with every word. Even if you took away the antisemitism of the Left, I still probably wouldn’t vote for them because of the holier-than-thou attitude. It is just a constant feature of life in my part of the country. They are bullies. You missed one big item. They really want to control speech (mustn’t say his middle name), and that’s because once communication is controlled, it is hard to know if your thoughts are shared by others or if you are crazy and alone. Ideas moving in the “wrong” direction cannot be developed at all. The term “political correctness” is a joke in some places but in others it is a fact of life. Step out of line and you can lose all sorts of things that you like very much. In very “progressive” areas of the country, it is impossible to have an honest conversation because the thought police will arrest you. Bloodthirsty Liberal is a direct response to the bully tactics of the nice people who only want to make it all better.

Patience, folks. Remember the Swift Boat thing? That worked so well they’ve ordered a squadron of them.

Remember the surprise revelation of GWB’s youthful DWI a couple of days before the election? Payback is on the way.

Serve ‘em right. Look for the first one to hit right before the first debate. Obama in White Face. Delicious.
