Meathead: the Press

They may be the Fifth Estate, but their imbecility is second to none!

Reporter Mark Smith wants Bush to do an Obama and meddle in their consumption habits: “Why have you not called on Americans to drive less and turn down their thermostats?”

Bush: “People are smart enough to figure out whether they should drive less…it’s presumptuous to do so…they can decide. Of course they should conserve…let them decide.”

Just add it to the list of war crimes. Along with the virtual Doomsday Book of other unasked questions:

“Why have you not called on Americans to…

… think globally, buy locally?”

… visualize whirled peas?”

… hug their children today?

… impeach Bush?”

I know President Bush is not thought of as sharpest knife in the drawer—but do the members of the press have to think down to the level at which they perceive his intellect?

Not the sharpest knife? I think history a few short years from now will exonerate him in hindsight. Yes, he has made mistakes, but the future will define him better than we are able to in the current tense. After 4 years of Obama, GW will seem like a beacon of hope.
