Clinically Insane

Hot Air gets around to it before I do: how dare people earn a living off sick people?

This is the kind of demagogic idiocy we could expect from a John Edwards presidency. You can’t let the free market do anything creative and you can’t talk with corporations. You have to bludgeon them while you frack up the entire health care system.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino embarked on a highly public campaign yesterday to block CVS Corp. and other retailers from opening medical clinics inside their stores, an effort that exposed a rift between Menino and the state’s public health commissioner, a longtime ally.

“Limited service medical clinics run by merchants in for-profit corporations will seriously compromise quality of care and hygiene. Allowing retailers to make money off of sick people is wrong.”

Look, I don’t like my doctor driving a better car than I do, but he did go to school a lot longer. Are we giving health care away now? In which case its quality will soon fall to the level of its cost.

We Bostonians recognize Menino’s M. O. Nothing goes down in this town without he gets a taste (and I don’t mean financially). He wants his PR cut.

In 1965 LBJ signed Medicare/Medicaid into law. My father, a doctor, at the time stated that with government entrance into medicine that costs would skyrocket and quality would go down the crapper. He was at the very least half right.

Menino can’t help himself. He has wedded government power with good old southie style corruption. Just add ego and stir.
