Coz He Says So, That’s Why
Bill Cosby’s stand on violence among young black men isn’t exactly breaking news—but as brother-on-brother crime hasn’t exactly abated, Coz bears revisiting:
Along comes comedian Bill Cosby, who was on the Oprah show yesterday. It’s not hard to find some fault with some of the things that he says here and there, but at heart his diagnosis and the hard medicine that he prescribes to cure the ills that plague black America are deeply and profoundly socially conservative…. [H]is message is at heart the same message that the family values folks get tarred for proclaiming all the time.
What is “hard medicine” about hoping for peace and prosperity for all African Americans? Some people—black and white—don’t like the taste of the medicine; maybe they think prescribing medicine is racist by nature because it implies that there is an underlying illness.
Well, for the 74 and 75 homicides in Boston over the past two years, being young and black was tantamount to a terminal disease.

I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY AGREE WITH WHAT BILL COSBY IS TALKING ABOUT; THIS HIP HOP GENERATION PRIMARILY SPEAKING ABOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUTH ARE LACKING AND THERE IS NO ONE TO BLAME BUT THE PARENTS– BUT CAN PARENTS EVEN BE PARENTS IF THEY HAVE A CHILD AT 14, 15, AND 16 YEARS OLD? NO I THINK NOT.
