From Durban to Davos
From Durban to Davos
Evidently, you can’t hold an international conference these days without a good Jew-bashing. It seems like the notorious Durban Conference happened only yestderday–but it was 2001, so I suppose another outrage was due. Durban, a UN sponsored gathering to condemn racism (like anyone’s for it?), degenerated into a hate-filled slime fest, with Israel as the prime target. Davos, Switzerland, is the site of the annual World Economic Forum, so feared and reviled by the anti-globalists–but maybe the Stone-Agers have found their soul mates in the editorial board of Global Agenda Magazine, the official Davos house organ.
Global Agenda is the official magazine of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. The magazine’s role is to seek comment from leading business people, politicians, academics and members of civil society on the topics to be discussed at the Annual Meeting. The magazine acts as a briefing paper for participants and as a source of ideas and information about how some of the issues may develop over time.
Circulated to more than 26,000 of the world’s leading opinion-formers in business, finance and policy-making, Global Agenda also reports on the many initiatives that the Forum operates in the key policy areas.
What common ground can “the world’s leading opinion-formers in business, finance and policy-making” have with the Doc Marten crowd? (Did you really have to ask?)
In which Mazin Qumsiyeh, described as having served on the faculties of Duke and Yale universities (his mug appears on the website of the Yale’s Department of–wait for it–Genetics), makes the case that–oh, let him make his own case:
We propose that global civil society take this call seriously and build a coalition open to all people for a global Movement Against Zionism or a global Movement Against Israeli Apartheid. This would bring peace with justice to all people regardless of their religion or ethnicity. It would also contribute to exposing American government-led programmes of domination and hegemony in the Middle East, most aptly revealed by its support of Zionism.
Well, that should make for a nice discussion. And I thought Global Agenda sought comment from “members of civil society”.
UPDATE: I would provide more examples of Mr. Qumsiyeh’s felcitous use of language, but between the time I first learned of his article and finishing this post, his article was PULLED.
The curious can learn more of Mr. Qumsiyeh’s thoughts here, courtesy of CAMERA.
Global Agenda sounds like an international conspiracy Zionist Jews are frequently accused of having. What a surprise to learn that it’s the other way around.

WEF in Switzerland: Kauft nicht bei Juden!
…it appears now that the WEF’s official magazine contains some of the crudest and most biased anti-”zionist” material. The booklet, titled Global Agenda, bears the logo of the World Economic Forum and includes an introduction written by the conf…

i’m surprised at how quickly you reject his criticism of Zionism and apartheid…it this not a pertinent discussion to have?

Surprised, John? Read the site, man. If there’s one overriding lesson I’ve learned in the last few years, it’s that throughout history Jews have been accused of the very crimes actually committed against them. Zionism = apartheid? Find me a Muslim country with Jews in its parliament (as there are Arabs in the Knesset), and we’ll have that discussion. In the meantime, you’ll have all the time in the world to read this:
