Go Straight To Jail

This is surreal. Is Nancy Pelosi a Dickens character? Will she give us enough gruel?

Thanks for posting this, Aggie, but we we chose this as a people. And if the 2010 elections don’t flush this whole stinking crew down the toilet, we will have reaffirmed that choice. I’m getting more hopeful by the day that we will dump these socialist reprobates, but by no means certain.

Elections have consequences! But can you imagine the faces of many of the baby boomer leftists when they or their lovely children, you know, the ones that are all above average, get thrown into the slammer because they didn’t pony up for insurance?

I think I understand why it is in the bill. Otherwise, we would all just simply drop insurance and pick it up just as we need it. Need to have a nasty appendix removed? Get the insurance and the surgery. Hang out at the hospital, see the doc at 6 weeks for the post-op, get the all-clear, then dump the insurance. Save hundreds, even thousands, a year. Pity the poor people who need insurance all the time, because they have a chronic condition. Tough for them, you know? This provision allows the government to put people in jail, creating a disincentive to game the system. But I still see visions of Oliver: Please, Sir, May I Have Some More?

That is the American public, isn’t it?

    Another point, Aggie.

We all know that this bill, if it ever passes, will of course have public funding of abortions, will of course cover illegal aliens, and will of course have death panels (though under a different, less catchy, name), plus a number of other intolerable items. It can’t pass without them (or, hopefully, with them).

And if we refused to allow a single cent to go to any single one of these policies which we wholeheartedly oppose, we will find our asses in the can.

I hope dissent is indeed the highest form of patriotism, because we’re about to have a whole hell of a lot of patriots in jail.

As I grow older and have more interaction with helpless, dependent, elderly people, coupled with my experiences with helpless, dependent, infants, I have less and less … comfort … with the whole concept of abortion. The same people who hate the death penalty love abortion, and visa versa. It seems to me that life is a long, slow arc, starting at helplessness, and, if we are lucky enough to live long enough, ending there too. Obviously the phase in the womb is part of that progression.

I understand the arguments in favor of abortion, but I find it harder and harder to get around the fact that it definitely terminates life.

Y’all can spend your time on the big questions if you like, but I have a bigger one: has anyone noticed that Nancy is starting to show some serious wear and tear? I think someone broke into her attic and took her picture away. I guess it’s a bitch to be this “Sister Vicious Power-Hungry Bitch” because it really doesn’t give you any time to get away and get your lifts refreshed.
