Green Silliness, Green Corruption
Because liberals will believe anything…
State officials deliberately underestimated the cost of Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s plan to lure green energy companies to Oregon with big taxpayer subsidies, resulting in a program that cost 40 times more than unsuspecting lawmakers were told, an investigation by The Oregonian shows.
Records also show that the program, a favorite of Kulongoski’s known as the Business Energy Tax Credit, has given millions of dollars to failed companies while voters are being asked to raise income taxes because the state budget doesn’t have enough to pay for schools and other programs.
The incentives are now under intense scrutiny at the Oregon Department of Energy, which is scrambling to curb their skyrocketing costs.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. I take it back; it is funny. People are such dopes.

The funniest part is “unsuspecting lawmakers.” How did these idiots miss the fact that, as stewards of the people’s money, it’s their job to suspect, to be suspicious, to investigate. But it’s green energy so it must be good. No one dishonest would be selling green energy, would they? That’s what evil oil barons do, right?
What worthless poltroons - too scared of a buzzword to even think a suspicious thought.

This may be ‘funny’ to YOU…..but I just moved here! Following the grandkids, but even with no sales tax, I’m concerned about the scope of State government - are we going to end up like California?

Earl,
People need to actually practice what they preach. For years educators have touted “critical thinking” as opposed to “rote learning”. That is the distinction that they made, without nuance.
What we have achieved is a generation of adults who simply swallow the party line. This is because with that style of “critical thinking” the answer is known before the question is asked. Our era is as rigid as the McCarthy era. I can’t comment on Oregon because I don’t live there, but if the article is accurate, maybe the state is filled with followers who never had an independent thought?
