If nothing else, saying that Obama accomplished this would mean that something needed to be accomplished to begin with, and everyone knows the war was trumped up for Bush's oil buddies. I think it's a matter of saying that Al Qaeda is so over that we don't need to spend any time, money, or effort on destroying them any more. The war, therefore, is over and all troops can come home.
