It sometimes sounds empty when I say it, but thank you for your service. More specifically, thank you for putting our armchair, hypothetical war-making into real, life-and-death terms. I love that we raise our children to believe in one kind of world, but I feel guilty about it. I’ve never been to to Iraq, but I’m guessing there is no Sesame Street in Fallujah.

Do you save your friend’s life, or do you let both of them die. Seven years later I found the answer to that question. You shoot the kid’s legs, and you try to aim around the bone so at least maybe he’ll be able to walk when it heals, and maybe that will help him forgive you and help you forgive yourself. So you shoot the kid in the leg, and the kid falls down, and suddenly he disappears into blood and meat and guts and gore, and you wonder what the fuck just happened…

That paragraph should be memorized in schools.

Peter Arnett’s bunker in Baghdad (Gulf War I) full of civilians when hit by US bomber - Used as command facility the day before. With so few civilian casualties to that point in the air campaign, why were all those people seeking refuge in a military bunker?

When was the last time a UN School, child care center, hospital… was hit by accident, or on purpose by Isreal or the United States, and it was not loaded with numerous civilians who became civilian casualties? How often now have we read about Isreali schools (how many kindergartens do they have?) hit with no casualties?

Let’s run with Michael and call it Jewish propaganda. Is he telling us that the “Jewish propaganda” machine is the rest home for nitwits and idiots? Certainly Hamas has a predilection for lying that may be lacking in Isreali government employees, but it would not take much to get one picture of an injured child (God knows that Isreal has had more than its share of injured children) in the arms of a nurse from several different angles and report it as 30+ children for each rocket fired.

However, the UN would not lie. They’ll take the food and medicine provided by the United States and distribute it in exchange for sex, or sell it to the highest bidder; they’ll get rich and make their children rich bypassing economic embargoes on UN designated criminal countries; but they would never lie about Hamas using a UN school facility to attack Isreal.

Of course the UN would find itself innocent of harboring terrorists in its schools—and you stupidly overlooked that I’ve already cited their denial in another post. The difference between us, Michael, is that I don’t believe the UN. I do tend to believe the witnesses who say that there were terrorists on the premises, as well as the visual evidence that Hamass does this sort of thing all… the… time.
