Brendan,

Can I ask you a question? Were you aware of the fact of the hatred and threats leveled at G.W. Bush continuously over the past 8 years? Have you ever heard him compared to Hitler? Have you ever heard anyone say that they wish he was dead? Are you aware of the celebration that ensued among the Left when people thought that something had happened to Dick Cheney's health? Have you seen the movie called Death of a President, with an actor that looks like Bush who is assassinated? Did you hear anyone claim that Sarah Palin should have been aborted, which is quite a popular chant these days? Did you hear the loonies in your party claim that her four month old son was actually the son of her daughter? I am just getting warmed up here... but you see the trend. We have been subjected to 8 long years of insanity coming from the Left? Do you expect that the Right will be kinder and gentler? I doubt it.

Some look at the world as it is and say "why?" Others look at the world as they wish it would be and say "O-ba-ma! O-ba-ma!" You and I don't see much of anything the same way at all.

I won't re-argue the point, but if you think the public as as well informed about Obama's relationships with Ayers and ACORN, with Rezko and Wright, as they are with Sarah Palin's ovulation cycle, well, okay.

What you can't wait to see---a Democratic sweep of the Congress and the White House---may be one of the strongest arguments I've heard for McCain yet. Reid, Pelosi, Barney Frank, and Barack Obama? Dear God, no!

I don't have anything to worry about. I'm pretty confident about a Democrat sweep this November and excited about the coming Obama admin. I'm just saying that those yelling "terrorist" and "off with his head" at McCain/Palin rallies are making the Republicans look more like a militia group than a mainstream political party. And no, McCain didn't tell his crowds to calm the hell down until he was shamed, and rightfully so, in the press.

Perhaps you're not being entirely serious. Or maybe the words "liberal media" just swirling around in your head all day are an acceptable substitute for actually opening a newspaper or turning on CNN to find out what's going on.

Rev. Wright was the hot topic on all the cable news networks for the solid month of March. I've heard Bill Ayers discussed on both Morning Edition and All Things Considered on NPR every day for the last week. Just the other day I saw a 10-minute story on CNN about ACORN that tied Obama to the organization and featured interviews with Democrat election officials in Ohio calling the phony registrations "voter fraud," which they are.

The supposed media blackout on subjects unhelpful to Obama and Democrats is a neat lie conservatives tell themselves in order to -- I'm not sure exactly why this myth is so pervasive. More and more often now, though, I see those on the right lining up to wallow in their victimhood as a sort of group therapy, which is as unattractive when you guys do it as it was when liberals would similarly mope following loss after loss at the polls.

Understand and accept that the governing philosophy to which you ascribe has resulted in a significant diminishing of the quality of life of most Americans in its application over the past eight years. While I quite honestly doubt that the Democrats have all the answers, your candidate, vacillating as he does between pledging to continue extant policies and adopting watered-down versions of his opponent's stances, inspires close to zero confidence that he would be able to get anything done -- particularly given the overwhelming likelihood of Democrat gains in the congress this year.

"By sanctioning this stuff with his silence, he’s turning off moderates, conservative Democrats, independents, all the people who McCain absolutely needs to win over if he’s to pull off an upset."

Then you have nothing to worry about.

Or were you not being entirely serious? Did you rather mean that since the media won't investigate Obama's relationships with Ayers and ACORN, with Rezko and Wright, it falls to McCain to do their job, and that scares you?

It should.

The same media which wouldn't go near those stories is now declaring McCain an angry and desperate candidate for bringing them up. That's fine. Those moderates and independents know better than any of us, I believe, how biased and corrupt the press has become. I think they take one listen to Chris Matthews and Katie Couric and can tell immediately that they describe a world which bears no relevance to the one they live in.

And speaking of no relevance to reality, John McCain has been asking his large crowds to treat Obama with respect, exactly as you wish him to do. "Kill him" was shouted (if it was shouted at all---"kill them"? "tell them"? "tell him"?---at a Palin rally, and she didn't even hear it.

If you ask me, the mug shots should have been of Olbermann, Matthews, Ifill, and Gibson. They have beaten their profession into an unrecognizable pulp.

I won't make any apologies for the various citizens in the mugshots on Malkin's blog, lord knows as a Democrat that sort of behavior embarrasses the hell out of me.

If I cared to do so I'm sure I could compile an equally long list of nasty behavior by Republicans against Democrats, as evidence to support the reverse thesis. This is not the point.

High-profile Democrat *politicians* are not out on the stump lighting crowds into a frenzy with the thinly-veiled -- I'm talking about crepe paper-thin, (does knowing what crepe paper is make me an elitist?) -- implication that the presidential nominee of the other party is going to appoint terrorists to his cabinet. All this, mind you, and Exhibit A is a guy who played with explosives 40 years ago and not since, with whom Barack Obama served on a board established by a friend of Ronald Reagan's.

Malkin's laundry list of mugshots only proves how plentiful are the nutjobs out there. It's our responsibility -- all of us -- to condemn political violence, and exhortations to it, as loudly as possible wherever we see it. Not ignore it, and certainly not grin knowingly at it like the McCains and Gov. Palin did at these rallies.

It should be noted that if you read through transcripts of any of Obama's speeches or interviews, more often than not, a mention of John McCain will be followed closely by the words "American hero" and "patriot," which every reasonable American acknowledges, even if they're of the mind that he would fuck this country into the ground were he to ascend to the presidency.

Note also that Barack Obama is the only candidate in this race whose likelihood of being assassinated has been a frequent topic in the press. John McCain's responsibility, when someone at a rally shouts "Kill him!" is to embarrass that person, make an example of him, show the crowd that this is not the way adult human beings behave who believe in America's goodness and greatness. I'd expect that crap in Swaziland or Kosovo, not here.

It's wrong, and it's also bad politics. The hard-right, scared to death of Obama crowd are going to vote for McCain even if he politely shushes their most fanatical outbursts. By sanctioning this stuff with his silence, he's turning off moderates, conservative Democrats, independents, all the people who McCain absolutely needs to win over if he's to pull off an upset.

"Let’s face it, Sandra never threated Palin–she took issue with her pro-life views"

Wishing gang rape on Governor Palin from her "big black brothers"---yeah, I see what you mean: just a mild disagreement.

Be serious or be gone!

This right wing fanatic has never threatened anyone, but if I hear such nonsense from you again, there'll be a first time.

corrected version.

Talk about rage–have you visted the you tube from Breaking Records that shows an exerpt of the DC show where Sandra spoke about Palin?
      It’s pretty scaaaarrrrryyyy
there’s people calling for her death to racial slurs that sound like Hitler penned them from the grave.

When Right wing fanatics don’t even address the issues but use the internet for an anonomys way to vent their hatred—that’s when we really have to worry.

Let’s face it, Sandra never threated Palin–she took issue with her pro-life views and insinuated that she wouldn’t feel the same way if she were violated…it’s clear to the thinking parts of the world.
