Hasan of a Bitch

My legs are positively twitching to jump to conclusions:

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

A fellow Army doctor who studied with Hasan, Val Finell, told ABC News, “We would frequently say he was a Muslim first and an American second. And that came out in just about everything he did at the University.

Finell said he and other Army doctors complained to superiors about Hasan’s statements.

“And we questioned how somebody could take an oath of office…be an officer in the military and swear allegiance to the constitution and to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic and have that type of conflict,” Finell told ABC News.

Hasan … told a neighbor on the morning of the murders after handing her a Koran: “I’m going to do good work for God.”

Hasan should be very proud. I know somebody is:

Meanwhile, the imam with whom Hasan associated — with his own ties to the 9/11 terrorists — has issued a statement calling Hasan a “hero,” a “man of conscience” ….

But let’s not rush to judgement.

We were warned that political correctness would be the death of us. For 13 members of the US military, it was.

For the Man or Woman Who Has Everything

Do you like art? I love art.

mo-bomb

A Danish press freedom group said Wednesday it is selling copies of a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad that caused outrage across the Muslim World.

Some 1,000 printed reproductions of a drawing depicting the prophet wearing a bomb-shaped turban are being sold for $250 each, said Lars Hedegaard, chairman of the Danish Free Press Society.

“All we are doing is starting a debate,” Hedegaard said. “We are using our freedom of speech.”

Hedegaard said Danish artist Kurt Westergaard, who drew the cartoon in 2005, had given the society permission to produce the copies and sell them. Each numbered copy has been signed by Westergaard, Hedegaard said.

“We have not, and are not, breaking any laws,” Hedegaard told The Associated Press.

Like that’s got anything to do with anything.

But it almost didn’t happen:

However, the project to promote the freedom of speech and the press faced an unexpected hurdle when the society was unable to find a Danish printing company willing to reprint the drawings for them.

The society contacted six different printers, all of whom turned the job down. In the end, a foreign printer was contracted to print the 1000 signed samples.

President of the Free Press Society, Lars Hedegaard, said that one of the printers told them that they would not be successful finding a Danish printer, because rumours of the controversial printing order had spread.

Hedegaard told Jyllands-Posten newspaper that, despite the freedom of speech being protected in the constitution, he feared that one day printers would avoid printing certain books out of fear of reprisals.

‘I’d like to ask the Danish politicians what they plan to do to ensure that constitutionally-protected freedom of speech does actually exist. A right that people do not dare use has no value.’

“A right that people do not dare use has no value.” Who is this guy? Are we sure he’s European?

Amazing. Watch Muslim Protesters Overrun British Police

This is London. It starts with this lovely phrase, “Run you fucking cowards, run, run!” directed at the police. A little less than three minutes into the video, the protesters start throwing things at the police, and the police begin to run away. The police are obviously frightened. This thing goes on for ten depressing minutes. This is Britain. In 2009.

Find yer balls, Britain. Did you look in the back of the closet?
