Skip This Post if You Have a Sensitive Stomach

Not kidding.

If you don’t digest soil well, just skim on by.

[Via Steyn]

A 16-year-old girl was buried alive by relatives in southeast Turkey in a gruesome honour killing just because she reportedly befriended boys, the Anatolia news agency reported Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, police discovered Medine Memi’s body in a sitting position with her hands tied, in a two-metre-deep hole in a chicken pen outside her house in Kahta town, Adiyaman province, 40 days after she went missing, the agency said.

A subsequent post mortem revealed that she had a significant amount of soil in her lungs and stomach, meaning that she was buried alive, foresic experts told the agency.

“The autopsy result is blood-curdling. According to our findings, the girl — who had no bruises on her body and no sign of narcotics or poison in her blood — was alive and fully conscious when she was buried,” one anonymous expert said.

Medine’s father and grandfather have been formally arrested and jailed pending trial over her killing, the agency said.

The father is reported to have said in his testimony that the family was unhappy she had male friends.

“Acting on a tip”—forty days after she was murdered. Are pay phones that rare in Turkey that no one could have dropped a dime any sooner?

Why didn’t they do this poor girl a favor and abort her before she was born? Wouldn’t that have been more humane than burying her alive? What say you, NOW?

Bachmann Specter Overdrive

Just catching up on some unfinished business, we reported on Arlen Specter’s (D-PA) appalling behavior toward Michele Bachmann the other day.

Well, give him credit, he apologized:

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) has apologized to Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for telling her to “act like a lady” during a debate over healthcare.

Specter called Bachmann last night and apologizes, Bachmann’s office tells MinnPost.com.

“He called her last night on her cell phone, he apologized for his comments, and she accepted,” said Bachmann spokesman Dave Dziol.

Here’s some background on the controversy:

A radio debate between Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter (D) and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) on Thursday grew especially heated when the senator told the conservative congresswoman she ought to “act like a lady.”

As Bachmann finished describing tax policies she would ideally pursue in 2010, Specter began his response, criticizing the congresswoman for dodging the original question. That discussion became tense, as Bachmann continued to talk over Specter, prompting the Pennsylvania senator to charge: “Now wait a minute. I’ll stop and you can talk… I’ll treat you like a lady. So act like one.”

“I am a lady,” Bachmann replied.

I am heartened that my appeal to NOW (or NAG, as Rush calls them: National Association of Gals) to set aside political differences and condemn such sexist and bullying behavior moved them to release a state—… what’s that?

They didn’t? They didn’t do a thing?

But NOW has an urgent action page—they call it Hot Topics (but when you put women and hot in the same sentence I get a little distracted).

What is so pressing to push obnoxious, belittling behavior by a man toward a woman off the table?

CBS to Air Anti-Abortion Ad During Super Bowl

If that means one single GoDaddy internet ad featuring the girl with the enormous boobs is bumped off the broadcast (get it?), NOW’s outrage and high dudgeon will be nothing next to mine.

Lose a truck or beer ad—but don’t touch the GoDaddy Girl.

What else is on their minds?

Celebrating 37 Years of Roe v. Wade: NOW Asserts that Abortion Care is a Human Right

Marking 37 Years of Roe v. Wade: A Year Marked With Tragedy and Restrictions On Abortion Care

Abortion is great, got it. I wish I could have one myself. But surely the National Organization for Women defines itself more broadly (get it?) than just terminating the lives of unborn babies?

Mad As Hell and Not Going to Take It Anymore!

All right, girls! Now, you’re talking! What’s got your panties in a bunch? Specter’s treatment of Bachmann? Obama’s of Hillary? Obama’s of “Sweetie”?

Tell members of your congressional delegation that throwing women under the bus in health care reform legislation is not acceptable. Contrary to what women’s advocates have repeatedly been told, it now appears health care legislation allows gender rating after all. This, coupled with the anti-abortion rights language and other problems, renders the bill not worth passing unless these harmful provisions are removed.

Oh, for pete’s sake! It’s all abortion all the time with you people. If guys think only about sex, NOW members think only about offing the offspring.

How tiresome.

Is This the Little Girl I Carried (to Term)?

In China, not likely.

I’ve been easy on China lately, but only out of constraints of time and attention span.

What with spying, stealing, human rights violations, and coal mining deaths, they’ve been ever the bad actors on the world state that they’ve always been (I mean the Keanu Reeves of world state bad actors).

But in about ten years we’ll get our revenge when they can’t get laid:

Breaking China [Mark Steyn]

As readers may recall, I’ve been scoffing for years at theories of China as the 21st-century hyperpower. It has two huge structural defects — a) an aging population; and b) an ever more male population. This last is entirely owed to the Commies’ disastrous one-child policy which ensured the abortion of millions and millions of girl babies: A woman’s right to choose turns out in practice to be the right not to choose any women. Result: Millions and millions of young men who’ll never get a date. Not a recipe for social stability. A new report by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences considers some of the issues:

According to the report, 24 million men reaching marriageable age by 2020 will never marry because of the sex imbalance. Think of it in these terms: what if the entire population of New York City or of Australia was never able to marry. Imagine the social implications in a city or nation that large where no one can marry. Imagine if that city or country is comprised solely of 24 million men; men with no homes to return to at night; men without the responsibilities of a family to keep them engaged in productive pursuits.

That would be a problem for a responsible state with respect for individual liberty and the rule of law.

China? China???

While the number of baby girls being born has declined, the number of kidnappings and trafficking of young girls has risen. According to the National Population and Family Planning Commission — that’s right, the very organization responsible for the one-child family policy — abductions and trafficking of women and girls has become “rampant.”

Young girls are being kidnapped within China and also from neighboring countries (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand) by organized gangs who sell them to families with boys of a similar age. The girls will be raised by the families and given as brides to their sons as soon as they reach marriageable age. Others are shipped to brothels within China for a life as sex slaves.

To which Steyn concludes:

In his schoolgirl paeans to totalitarianism, has the China-smitten Thomas Friedman of the New York Times ever addressed these structural defects? Or any of the ecopalyptic warm-mongers expressing barely concealed admiration for Beijing’s population-control measures?

The gap between how smart Tom Friedman thinks he is and how smart Mark Steyn actually is is so wide, even President Obama’s narcissism can’t span it.

3… 2… 1… NOW!

All I can say is, what took ‘em so long?

[NOW President Terry O’Neill] said the “male-dominated Democratic Party” is not doing women any favors by bringing in anti-abortion zealots,” slamming Nelson and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who amendment to restrict abortion coverage in the House health bill passed minutes before the final vote.

“Women are clearly harmed” by these lawmakers, O’Neill said. “Shame on the male-dominated Democratic Party for supporting them. They hold themselves out as the party that is women-friendly; well they’re not acting like it.”

“And that has a lot to do with why Martha Coakley lost this election,” O’Neill alleged, explaining the Democrats’ loss of Ted Kennedy’s seat with an argument that few others have made.

The National Organization for Women (NOW) harbors deep concerns with the Senate health legislation, and exclaims that “women will be better off with no bill whatsoever.”

“The Senate bill contains such fierce anti-abortion language, and there are other problems from the point of view of women,” NOW’s President Terry O’Neill told Raw Story in an interview.

O’Neill said NOW “will not support candidates in 2010 if they vote for it.”

So, NOW loves Scott, in other words, because he won’t vote for the bill. Who doesn’t love him? Especially among the frisky fillies at NOW?

Here’s some catnip for you, gals!

Only a few hours ago, I asked when NOW would condemn Arlen Specter’s outrageous Archie-Bunker-stifle-yourself-Edith moment with Michele Bachmann.

I knew better than to hold my breath. I should have known they’d waste theirs.

Dalal Mughrabi Will Never Age

Unfortunately, neither will the 10 children among her 37 victims:

This week Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas once again honored the memory of the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi - this time by sponsoring a ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of her birth. Mughrabi led the worst terror attack in Israel’s history in 1978, when she and other terrorists hijacked a bus and killed 37 civilians. Present at the ceremony were Palestinian dignitaries and a children’s marching band. Earlier this year, Abbas sponsored a computer center named after Mughrabi.

The PA further glorified Mughrabi on the date of her birth when the Governor of Ramallah announced the naming of the “Dalal Mughrabi Square”.

Actually, considering the way she died—blowing up the bus in a fiery explosion—”Dalal Mughrabi Square” sounds too neat, too symmetrical. Maybe “Dalal Mughrabi Corner” or “Dalal Mughrabi Ash Heap” or even “Dalal Mughrabi Flesh Chunk” would be more appropriate.

Palestinian Media Watch helpfully translates:

Under the auspices of President Mahmoud Abbas
The Political and National Education Authority
Ceremony on the anniversary of the birth of the bride of the cosmos
The Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi.

This would be like President Obama honoring the birth of Timothy McVeigh—something I would—repeat would—put past him.

But the Palestinians do this stuff al the time. All the time.

All… the… time.

Everyone stood at attention (the only time they stood for a woman, I’ll wager):

And what’s a birthday party for a dead terrorist without a children’s marching band?

Beat that skin, Little Drummer Boy!

Maybe some of our pro-Palestinian readers will excuse a party on a girl’s birthday. You turn 50 only once, after all, even if your corpse has been lying a-molderin’ in the grave for the last 31 of them.

But what about the rest of it?

1- Education: Two PA Dalal Mughrabi Girls High Schools
2- Education: The Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi Computer Center
3- Education: School graduation ceremony named after Mughrabi
4- Sports: Two Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi summer camps
5- Sports: The Dalal Mughrabi Football Championship
6- Municipality: The Dalal Mughrabi Square in Al Bira, Ramallah region

If Dalal Mughrabi is to have her name attached to anything, let it be to something worthy of her: a pig slaughterhouse.

Too mean? Read all about it, if you have the stomach, and get back to me.

Young, Gifted, and Black-Eyed

That’s life in Gaza, if you’re a chick:

The vast majority of women in Gaza face violence of varying types, a new survey has found.

The study, by the Gaza-based Palestinian Women’s Information and Media Center, found that violence against women in Gaza has increased since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in the June 2007 coup and Israel subsequently imposed restrictions on the coastal enclave.

The study found that 77.1% of Gazan women have experienced violence of various sorts, with almost half experiencing violence of more than one type.

A quarter of the women said they do not feel safe in their own homes because of violence and more than a third said they were unable to fight back as they had more urgent priorities to deal with.

67% of the women surveyed said they had encountered verbal violence, 71% mental violence, 52% physical violence and more than 14% sexual violence.

The report tries to pin the appalling level of violence against women on poverty. But Gaza was never exactly 5th Avenue. No, the real cause of change, it seems certain, lies in these words: “violence against women in Gaza has increased since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip”. I’ll leave it to the psychologists and sociologists to explore the correlation between radical Islamists and abuse of women (and child abuse, and racial hatred, and gay-bashing, and mobocracy, etc., etc.).

I’ll just observe that it undoubtedly exists.

The Daily Humiliation of the Palestinian People

It just gets worse and worser:

The Palestinian Authority on Sunday cancelled the first Miss Palestine beauty contest that was supposed to take place in Ramallah later this week under the pretext that it coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.

The PA warned the organizers that they would be punished if they violated the ban.

The event was organized by the Ramallah-based commercial company Trip Model. Salwa Yusef, director of the company, said she received about 200 applications from Arab girls living in the West Bank and Israel.

Yusef said that only 58 girls were selected to participate in the contest, which was due to take place on December 26. She said that girls from the Gaza Strip were unable to present their candidacy because of the Israeli “blockade.” She added that the none of the girls were supposed to appear in bathing suits or “immodest clothing” and expressed regret over the PA’s decision to ban the beauty pageant.

Last week Hamas strongly condemned the planned Miss Palestine contest as a violation of Islamic teachings and called for its cancellation.

Hamas also accused the PA, which had initially given its blessing to the event, of “spreading moral corruption.”

Take a number, ladies, and grab a visa to Bloodthirstan, where you can “present” your “candidacy” to our “Minister” of the “Interior”, if you receive my meaning. Just make sure you pack nothing but “immodest clothing”, because you never know when we’ll get a heat wave.

Send in the UN!

Some call for the UN to intercede in war-torn regions like Darfur.

I say such evil cannot be allowed to happen:

A U.N.-backed Congolese military operation to oust rebels from eastern Congo has caused more civilian casualties than damage to rebels, with more than 1,400 people deliberately killed over a nine-month period, human rights groups said Monday.

Human Rights Watch said it had documented “vicious and widespread” attacks against civilians by soldiers and rebels between January and September. Soldiers being fed and supplied with ammunition by the United Nations have killed civilians, gang-raped girls and cut the heads off some young men they accuse of being rebels or supporting the enemy, groups said.

“For every rebel combatant disarmed, one civilian has been killed, seven women and girls have been raped, six houses have been burned and destroyed and 900 people have been forced to flee their homes,” British-based organization Oxfam said.

Human Rights Watch said it documented the killings of 732 civilians between January and September by the Congolese army and troops from neighboring Rwanda fighting alongside it. In the same period, it counted 701 civilians killed by the rebels they are fighting.

“Some victims were tied together before their throats were, according to one witness, ’slit like chickens.’ The majority of the victims were women, children, and the elderly,” the group said.

More than 7,500 cases of sexual violence against women and girls were registered at health centers during that nine-month period, nearly double that of 2008 and likely representing only a fraction of the total.

“The U.N. peacekeepers are being put in an appalling situation where they are supporting an army that is attacking its own population,” it said.

What an excuse this might have made for Tiger Woods: “honey, I did it for the UN!” Except Tiger didn’t sleep with any black women. Oh well.

But it would seem that the UN is a great place to get laid—if you’re male:

The United Nations, which aspires to protect human rights around the world, is struggling to deal with an embarrassing string of sexual-harassment complaints within its own ranks.

Many U.N. workers who have made or faced accusations of sexual harassment say the current system for handling complaints is arbitrary, unfair and mired in bureaucracy. One employee’s complaint that she was sexually harassed for years by her supervisor in Gaza, for example, was investigated by one of her boss’s colleagues, who cleared him.

Cases can take years to adjudicate. Accusers have no access to investigative reports. Several women who complained of harassment say their employment contracts weren’t renewed, and the men they accused retired or resigned, putting them out of reach of the U.N. justice system.

And if you like to read about the sexual exploitation of the poor and war-ravaged by their supposed protectors, enjoy.

Everything is Spinning Out of Control!

What will become of us?

A dispute has broken out in Saudi Arabia after a fatwa was issued by Ahmad Qasim Al-Ghamdi, director of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice for Mecca, permitting mixing of the genders.

Al-Ghamdi also said that there are hadiths proving that a woman can shake a man’s hand.

You take that back!

Next they’ll rule that a six year-old can play hopscotch rather than hop into her husband’s bed.
