Great Business Opportunity!

Do you want to:

- have all past debts forgiven?
- be a hit with the ladies?
- take care of your family?
- be tight with your God?
- go straight to the top?

Ask me how!

Six privileges, or kindnesses, to be granted the holy Martyr are mentioned in a hadith (tradition attributed to the Prophet Muhammad in Islam) and were explained in a recent Friday sermon broadcast on Hamas TV.

The privileges that are bestowed upon the one who dies for Allah and mentioned in the hadith are:

1- The Shahid’s sins are forgiven
2- He sees his place in Paradise and lives a full life of joy with Allah
3- He is protected from “the Great Shock” on Judgment Day
4- He is crowned with a crown of honor
5- He marries 72 dark-eyed wives
6- He will be able to intervene on behalf of 70 of his family members on Judgment Day, thereby ensuring them the reward of Afterlife

For years, both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas have promoted the ideal of dying as a Martyr for Allah. The promotion has been successful.
Palestinian Media Watch has collected many examples of Palestinian children and adults expressing belief in and desire for Shahada. Men and women aspire to become Shahids, and parents express pride and happiness when their children fulfill their aspirations and become Martyrs for Allah.

Don’t miss this can’t-miss opportunity to get in on the ground floor (where the blast can do the most damage to the foundations). Women and children especially welcome! (NINA: No Israelis Need Apply)

Everything is Spinning Out of Control!

What will become of us?

A dispute has broken out in Saudi Arabia after a fatwa was issued by Ahmad Qasim Al-Ghamdi, director of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice for Mecca, permitting mixing of the genders.

Al-Ghamdi also said that there are hadiths proving that a woman can shake a man’s hand.

You take that back!

Next they’ll rule that a six year-old can play hopscotch rather than hop into her husband’s bed.

It’s Not About the Settlements, Part MMCDXXVIII

This guy is a Sudanese cleric—but I’m sure he studied in Egypt:

Following are excerpts from a Friday sermon delivered in Khartoum by Sheik Abd Al-Jalil Al-Karouri, which aired on Sudan TV on October 30, 2009.

Our history with Christianity is one of friendship, while our history with Judaism is a history of war – not because of their sectarian affiliation, but because of the corrupt Jewish scheme. Since the dawn of history and to this day, they are destined to spread corruption in the land.

We want the world to see Islam’s relations with the other religions in the proper light, in order to achieve world peace. The bloody conflicts in the world today are because we live in “Israeli” times. Israel is recruiting the Christian world against Islam, and this causes a rift in international relations.

[…]

Just like the Jews tried to kill the Prophet Muhammad, they tried to kill Christ, and according to their faith, they indeed killed and crucified him. Despite this, the Jews were granted a pardon. Moreover, the West today is seeking absolution for the Holocaust by trying to serve the Israeli entity. They are seeking absolution for the historical Holocaust. The reason is that the Christian belief is linked to Judaism these days. It is called Zio-Christianity.

This belief resides in the White House, regardless of who occupies it. Some believe in it, like the former US president, and others succumb to it, like the current US president. Therefore, the current US policy is not in its best interests. [Benjamin] Franklin, one of the founders of the American nation, warned them about the Jews 200 years ago, but they did not heed this warning.

[…]

We heard [Obama’s] speech in Cairo and were pleased about it. From this podium, we welcomed our son, OBAMA HUSSEIN, hoping that he would not take the same path as his predecessor. But he is taking the same path.

Israelis are beginning to call Obama Hussein openly anti-Semitic, while Muslim clerics say he’s poisoned by… what is it again? Zio-Christianity.

If everybody hates you, maybe you’re doing something right. Or maybe you’re just a tool.

One More Thing on the Thanksgiving Checklist

And thank you, Lord, for not making me a Tajik woman.

Now, can you please pass the stuffing and cranberry sauce?

Amnesty International has accused Tajikistan of failing to protect its women, saying nearly half are raped, beaten or abused by their families.

According to Amnesty, women are regularly subjected to humiliation not only from their husbands but also in-laws, causing many to turn to suicide.

Had enough? That’s just the good news:

“Women are being treated as servants or as the in-laws’ family property,” Amnesty’s Tajikistan expert Andrea Strasser-Camagni said in a statement.

“They have no-one to turn to, as the policy of the authorities is to urge reconciliation, which… reinforces their position of inferiority.”

Many women are driven to commit suicide but relatives usually cover up such incidents by presenting them as accidents, our correspondent says.

But let me not leave you on such a bleak note. Turns out, misery loves company:

Violence against women is widespread across the entire Central Asian region, where most societies are patriarchal.

In Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, old traditions such as kidnapping young brides are still quite common - forcing some young women in rural areas to marry against their will.

BTL will now observe the age-old law of entertainment: always leave ‘em laughing.

[T]he population of Tajikistan is 98% Muslim….

Islamic Catechism

For all those who portray Islam as a “religion of peace”, may we cite exhibit 1,356,974 in the case against?

The Ansar Al-Mujahideen jihadist forum issued a communiqué on November 24, 2009 in praise of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan. The communiqué aimed in particular to defend Hasan’s actions against the condemnations that have been voiced by Muslim associations in the U.S.

The communiqué reads: “… We issue this statement in support of the actions of brother Nidal Malik Hassan, as a congratulations for his brave and heroic deed, as well as the jealousness [i.e. zeal] he displayed for the pains suffered by the Muslim Ummah as a result of the modern Zionist-Christian Crusades against it. May Allah reward you brother Nidal. We ask Allah to accept this great feat of yours and make you an example for others to follow.

“We also issue this statement due to the unfortunate yet expected wave of apologetic statements being given around the world which smack of apostasy, especially in the land of the Lead Crusaders, the United States of America…

“The actions of Nidal Malik Hasan were not contrary to the religion of Islam, rather they are encouraged by it…

“In conclusion, we again congratulate all Muslims, especially those in the United States, and especially our heroic brother Nidal Malik Hasan, for indeed he has raised our heads and made us proud… We hope other ‘Muslims’ in the US army repent from their apostasy and take him as a role model, instilling fear in the enemies of Allah and taking them by surprise wherever they may be…”

I don’t know, I’m not Muslim. But they are, and…well, I don’t know.

About That Speech

I don’t listen to President Obama’s speeches, as a habit, and I don’t feel deprived in any way. People seem to have been quote impressed with the Fort Hood memorial address he gave, and I’m grateful to him for finding words that gave solace when there wasn’t much to be found.

But I do look the texts over from time to time, where it’s much easier to spot the lies, equivocations, and outright BS:

This is a time of war. Yet these Americans did not die on a foreign field of battle. They were killed here, on American soil, in the heart of this great state and the heart of this great American community. This is the fact that makes the tragedy even more painful, even more incomprehensible.

Tragedy? Tragedy?

He makes it sound like a building fell on them. They were slaughtered. It was no tragedy.

It may be hard to comprehend the twisted logic that led to this tragedy. But this much we do know — no faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor. For what he has done, we know that the killer will be met with justice — in this world, and the next.

Again with the tragedy. ARGHH!

But my real complaint lies in these few dishonest words: “no faith justifies these murderous and craven acts”.

With respect, Mr. President, I know of one that does.

I may not be blessed with keen insight and clairvoyant foresight (all right, if you insist, I am), but I knew when anointed intellectuals were declaring the “end of history” that we had a reckoning with radical Islam ahead of us. I don’t remember exactly when I knew, but I do remember the effect the terrorist attack on the tourists at the pyramids had on me—and that was 22 years ago (next week).

How many suicide bombers have cited the Koran, posed with it on their “martyrdom” videos (another clue)? How many imams, mullahs, and sheikhs have justified the slaughter of infidels, just for the crime of being infidels? How many mass murderers have shouted “Allahu Akhbar” as they butchered their victims? Heck, even the DC sniper (RIP) killed in the name of his religion. The answer to these questions is: millions. You and I may find these acts murderous and craven (on that we agree), but their faith justifies all that and more.

If it makes you feel any better, Mr. President, Christians felt they were justified in burning witches at the stake or torturing Jews back when they still did such things. But isn’t that the point? They don’t do such things anymore. Most Christians never did, but some did—and their actions defined their faith, at least for a time.

To declare that Islam doesn’t justify these acts is to declare a lie. It does. Nine out of ten Muslims—maybe 99 out of 100—reject such teachings, but there is plenty of justification in the Koran and the hadiths. Whether that’s 10 million or 100 million I cannot say. But it’s plenty.

I felt a hell of a lot safer under President Bush (and safer still under Reagan) than I do under the Community Organizer in Chief.

Why Bother to Comment?

I have nothing to add to this:

Facing growing opposition to its ongoing drive against religious “defamation,” the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is accusing critics of “smear campaigns” and insisting that the resolution it has introduced at the United Nations applies to all religions.

As was the case with last year’s resolution, however, Islam is the only faith mentioned by name in the OIC-drafted text currently before a U.N. General Assembly committee.

Ya Gotta Believe

I hate to say it (do I ever), but I think this guy has a point:

Following are excerpts from a sermon delivered by Sunni scholar Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, which aired on Qatar TV on October 30, 2009.

Let me tell you, with regard to the Christians, in general, there is a problem, which I raised at the third conference, held in Doha, as well as at the interfaith dialogue conference in Mecca, convened by the Saudi monarch a year and a half ago. I said: Brothers, the problem is that [although] we recognize Christianity, and we recognize Christ, his holy book, and his religion… A Muslim’s faith is not complete unless he believes in this, because it is incumbent upon him to believe in every book that was sent down and in every prophet who was sent [by God]. “And what was given to Moses and Jesus and other prophets from their Lord – we make no distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit.” But these [Christians] do not recognize us. [They say]: “Muhammad was a liar. The Koran is a fabrication. They created the Koran and attributed it to Allah.”

These things have practical implications. We were at a conference in Cairo, called “The Christians of the Middle East.” I wanted to say, in the closing statement: “The people of the divine religions agreed…” But [the Christians] said: “Stop!” I asked: “What is it?” They said: “We do not recognize Islam as a divine religion. It is not a divine religion.” They agreed to say all kinds of things, but not that Islam is a divine religion. I wanted to include another sentence, about “Godly values.” They said: “No, we do not recognize Islamic values as being Godly. They are human values, brought by a guy who claimed to be a prophet.” I exploded and said: “So what are we convening for? If you do not recognize our religion and our values as divine, what are we meeting for? Go away.” And I left the meeting.

Brother, there is a problem with our dialogue with these people, who look at our Prophet, our Koran, and our nation this way, while we flock to them, and do not achieve a thing. Give me one practical thing that these conferences have achieved for the benefit of the Islamic nation. I cannot find a thing.

I’ve always had a cognitive dissonance problem with the whole issue of “interfaith dialogue”. It’s not bad or wrong, just illogical. One can explain one’s faith to another person—describe the practices, outline the beliefs—but it’s faith, not auto mechanics. And the person of another faith can listen politely, nod solemnly—and think to himself, what a crock.

He died, and then was resurrected? Are you serious?

The Red Sea did what? The oil lasted how long?

She was how old when he married her?

The Christians quoted by the sheikh above were impolite to be sure, but they were honest. They have their Savior, the Muslims have the Prophet, the Jews are still waiting for the Messiah. Like for a cab at rush hour. In the rain.

Ann Coulter got in a lot of trouble for saying Jews need to be “perfected” (made Christian), and that Christians considered themselves “perfected Jews” (believers in the Old Testament, yet accepters of Christ). She wasn’t calling for forced conversions, by the way, just stating what she and many other Christians (and Jews—like Dennis Prager, who defended her) believe is Church doctrine.

And this sheikh is saying the same thing: we Muslims are cool with the Jewish prophets, cool with Jesus—they’re from the same God as ours (whom we call Allah). But where’s the love in return?

He doesn’t get into the other side of Islam, which treats the infidels with considerably less respect, calls for rocks and trees to betray Jews on Judgement Day, and engages in most of the violent, murderous actions in the world today.

But that’s for another post (most of them, in fact).

Mohammed: The Movie Star

I think I’d still rather see this picture over that bloated, gassy, amorphous Avatar:

An epic movie about Islam’s Prophet Muhammad is in the pipeline, backed by a producer of the Lord of the Rings.

American Barrie Osborne, who also produced The Matrix, told Reuters the film would be an “international epic” aimed at “bridging cultures”.

In accordance with Islamic rules, the Prophet cannot be depicted on screen. Images of the Prophet are considered blasphemous by Muslims.

So cast Claude Raines—problem solved.

And if I may offer a suggestion for the young Aisha:

Can’t Live With ‘Em, Can’t Live, Period

Arabs may not like living next to Jews in the Middle East, but they are trying to learn the ways of their unwelcome neighbors, the better to get along with them.

This fellow has one observation:

Following are excerpts from an interview with Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sinwar, a lecturer on Islamic history at the Islamic University of Gaza. The interview aired on Al-Aqsa TV on July 31, 2009.

The claim that those who built Pithom and Raamses were persecuted is a lie. The archaeological finds have proven that they enjoyed rights and privileges, and that they did not suffer any injustice. Therefore, all the talk about persecution is incorrect. These are lies by the Jews, who have become used to not working, to being a burden on others. This has been part of their psychological makeup throughout their long history. They do not like to work. They like to have people working for them, and to receive the services.

Therefore, when they were forced to work at Pithom and Raamses, making bricks to build the two cities, they viewed this as persecution. This is not true. This was merely construction work, playing an active role in the society in which they live – a society that has the right to force them to carry out this work.

Lazy and ungrateful—there’s no pleasing some people!

But that’s okay, because they are about to get theirs:

Following are excerpts from an interview with Sheik Himam Sa’id, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on October 9, 2009.

The truth is that sooner or later, there will inevitably be Jihad, or fighting, between us and the Jews. Postponing the war, trying to throw sand in the eyes, and ignoring what is happening in Palestine… Today, the Jews are spreading. They are at the gates of Amman. Today, the Jews pose a threat to Jordan in its entirety. They pose a threat to Iraq, to Syria, and to the Arabian Peninsula. Therefore, the [Arab] governments have to create a state of popular Jihad everywhere, to establish a strong popular army, to train the youth and prepare them, and to open the gates of Jihad and of volunteering – just like in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

[…]

True, right now, things are calm. But under the calm, there are volcanoes. If these volcanoes erupt, by God, they will blow away all the conspirators, and all the hypocrites, and [the volcanoes] will sweep the Jews out of Palestine for all eternity.

I have a neighbor whose thorny bramble grows over his side of the fence and into my yard. Will that volcano also sweep his conspiratorial and hypocritical shrub out of my property for all eternity. If so, I’d like to borrow it.

Let’s hear from one more, shall we?

Following are excerpts from an interview with Saudi University professor Salman Al-Abdali, which aired on Iqra TV on October 1, 2009.

Explosive belts are legitimate when they are used against colonialist aggressors. Let me reiterate: colonialist aggressors, who cross continents and oceans, in order to invade the lands of the Muslims.

[…]

Someone who blows himself up amidst the enemy is different from someone who blows himself up in a safe place. Blowing oneself up in Tel Aviv is not like blowing oneself up in Riyadh.

Try telling that to Al Qaeda, “professor”. (Not that he couldn’t get tenure at Columbia or Berkeley, based on that comment alone.) What about blowing oneself up in Lahore, Karachi, Kabul, Baghdad, and other Muslim capitals? Is that “legitimate”?

Terrorism is not a tool as much as it is a dangerous contagion, which can turn on its handler as easily as on its target. Think of a hammer that has a mind of its own, and is just as likely to strike your own head as it is to strike the head of the nail.

People say Islamic culture hasn’t contributed anything to the world since the Middle Ages. But random and indiscriminate death and dismemberment is surely worth noting, and surely an Islamic specialty. They seem to think so.
