The arrogance and entitlement are not to be believed:

Hawaii, James. And there’s an extra thousand for you if I make my tee time.

In a move that is rich in irony, President Obama this morning agreed to sign an emergency deficit reduction bill that does almost nothing to rein in spending and then jetted out to Hawaii to resume his vacation at an extra cost of more than $3 million to taxpayers.

The price tag is in addition to more than $4 million that is already being spent on the Obamas’ Hawaii idyll, bringing the total cost of the excursion to well over $7 million.

The added cost was incurred because by the time the Obamas return from Hawaii – whenever that is – the president will have used Air Force One to travel to Honolulu and back twice.

A president earns his vacation, and if Honolulu is his hometown, so be it. But he knew he’d have to deal with these “fiscal cliff” negotiations, and he took off anyway. Only to have to return—and take off again.

Seven million dollars for the Obama family vacation. I don’t think all the National Lampoon Vacation movies combined cost that much.

We know how you feel, Chevy.

In a rational world, Obama would be taxed on the market value of his vacations at taxpayer expense – hey, if he won a $7 million vacation on Jeopardy or some other game show, the IRS would certainly send him a bill. So let’s just think of “The Election” as another stupid game show and act accordingly. Oh, and he shouldn’t get a “raise” to compensate him for the taxes, they should be paid out of his own pocket (doesn’t he have royalties from all those books he “wrote” which almost everybody bought but nobody read?) After all, Jeopardy doesn’t pay the contestant’s taxes on game show winnings either, why should “The Election”?

    Capital idea, Buck!

And if Obama was a frequent visitor to Hawaii on his own dime, I’d be less critical than even the little critical I am now. But I bet he barely ever paid a visit the balmy isles until you and I started picking up the tab.
