Stevie Wonder Declines To Play At Fundraiser For Israel

He’s so into peacepiece, you see…

I used to love the guy, but he is dead to me now.

Stevie Wonder has decided to withdraw from a commitment to headline a Dec. 6 benefit for the Israeli Defense Forces, according to JTA, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

The American entertainer’s representatives are set to issue a statement, the news wire said late Wednesday, in which they will claim Wonder believes taking sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict clashes with his role as a “Messenger of Peace” for the United Nations. He has held that honorific title since 2009.

JTA based its reporting on “a source who has read email exchanges between Wonder’s representatives and organizers of the event.”

The online Israel hate group, change.org, helped to organize the boycott.

And this reminds me, folks, that the season of giving is upon us. I hope that we will try to find charities that reflect our values in both their mission statement and their staffing. There are lots of ways to help others without participating in left-wing lunacy.

Being a “Messenger of Peace for the United Nations” would seem analagous to being a “Messenger of Truth for the Obama Administration.”
