Petition to Secede From The Union

From Louisiana

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.
As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

“…Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government…”

    Rush said the other day that if we split in two, give the leftists whichever side they want, it will only be a matter of time until they start to tunnel under the fence to get to our side.

    There are 5500 signatures now, but many are from outside of Louisiana. So they couldn’t possibly count, right?

    I’ve given a lot of thought to the possibility of the country splitting up, but it wouldn’t break into two, it would break into several. Probably a Northeast and Atlantic Coastal area, a Southern area, a Midwestern area, a Western area and a West Coast area. We would have to split the military and the debt. So it can never happen, it’s just a fantasy. It does seem as though we aren’t getting along well though, doesn’t it?

    15 or more states have put these same petitions up. Indiana,Texas,Montana are just 3 of the 15+ total

    About 7700 signatures now. I hadn’t realized that 15 states have done this. But what does that mean – that 15 individuals want it? Can anyone put up a petition? For secession to become anywhere close to a possibility, it would require a movement along the lines of the Tea Party, only much bigger. And the financial/technical decisions are just a nightmare… the military… the debt. This would be much more difficult than adding an amendment to the Constitution. I understand the impulse, but I’d be amazed to see it go anywhere.

    Nine hours ago they had 7700 signatures. They now have about 3,000 more. Not really a huge response so far.
